Bitterwasser stands on the Kalahari edge between Uhlenhorst and Hoachanas, about 170 km south-east of Windhoek on a large salt pan. There are forty-two units for up to eighty guests: twenty-two deluxe bungalows with air conditioning, private bathrooms, kitchenettes and shaded terraces; fourteen traditional-style rondavels; and six rooms in the farm house. Facilities include a restaurant with an outdoor terrace looking onto the palm grove, a lounge, a swimming pool, wireless internet throughout and an emergency power supply, with mature eucalyptus for shade. The property has been an international gliding centre for decades, and gliding and scenic flights are the signature activities.
