Henties Bay Accommodation

Henties Bay sits about 70 km north of Swakopmund on the C34 salt road, where the Omaruru River meets the Atlantic. It is a fishing town first and a holiday town second, and it fills up in the December and Easter angling seasons while staying very quiet the rest of the year.

Accommodation here is mostly self-catering — beach cottages, flats and guesthouses rather than hotels — which suits the way people use the town: several nights of fishing, a base for Cape Cross and the Skeleton Coast gate at Ugab, or a break on the drive north. Prices are generally lower than Swakopmund for the same amount of space.

Henties Bay has no fuel or supermarket redundancy of the kind Swakopmund offers, so stock up before you arrive out of season, and note that the C34 is a salt road that becomes slippery in coastal fog.
