Erongo Inland Accommodation

Erongo Inland covers the granite country between Windhoek and the coast — the Erongo Mountains themselves, the farmland around Omaruru, and the inselberg landscape near Spitzkoppe and Usakos. It is one of the easiest regions in Namibia to reach and one of the most consistently underused. The characteristic property here is the mountain guest farm or private-reserve lodge built among granite boulders, often with rock art on the property and walking trails from the door. Omaruru adds small hotels, guesthouses and self-catering cottages in and around the town, along with a modest wine and arts scene. Near Spitzkoppe the emphasis shifts to community campsites and simple rest camps positioned for the sunrise on the granite.Because it sits roughly halfway along the Windhoek–Swakopmund road, this region works particularly well as a first or last night of a self-drive trip: close enough to Windhoek to reach easily after a late arrival, but far enough out to feel like the desert has already started. It also suits travellers who want granite scenery, birding and rock art without the long gravel drives that Damaraland demands. Access is largely tarred, with short well-maintained gravel spurs to the lodges.See the Erongo Inland destination guide for the towns and sights, and the 7-day itinerary for how it fits a short trip.
