Desert Horse Inn stands 3 km east of Aus on the B4, as part of the Klein-Aus Vista estate in the Karas Region. The inn has thirty rooms; the operator’s own page lists twenty-six twin rooms and four quadruple rooms. All rooms are en-suite with showers and have air conditioning for heating and cooling, ceiling fans, fridges, safes, tea and coffee facilities and verandas. There is a restaurant, a bar, a horseshoe-shaped swimming pool, a curio shop, a laundry service and secure parking, and 300 MB of free Wi-Fi is provided. Activities include guided scenic sunset drives, half-day desert tours, day trips to Lüderitz and Kolmanskop, five self-guided hiking trails and mountain-bike routes of 20 to 80 km with bikes for hire. The Garub wild-horse waterhole is a listed excursion. Access is on the tar B4 and is suitable for standard vehicles. Children under 5 stay free and children 6 to 13 pay 50 per cent of the bed-and-breakfast rate.
