Marble Campsite occupies the old marble mine buildings at Onjuva in the Orupembe Conservancy, on a dry riverbed on the route to and from the Marienfluss and Hartmann’s Valley. The conservancy took over the mine buildings and converted them into a campsite for travellers on the northern Kaokoland circuit. The campsites are private and secluded, with food preparation areas, sinks and braai areas. There is a stone-built reception area and a large ablution block with separate male and female showers and flush toilets. Water is potable and hot water is solar-heated, and deep-freeze facilities are available on site. Chalets are also available to rent in addition to the camping. As the site is community-operated it is not always possible to contact the camp to book in advance. The campsite is listed by the Namibia Tourism Board among its community-based tourism projects.
