Gabus sits on the karst country outside Otavi, in the belt of dolomite hills that separates the central plateau from the northern bushveld. Otavi itself is a junction rather than a destination, and that is exactly the point: this is a comfortable stop on the long B1 run between Windhoek and Tsumeb, roughly two hours from Etosha’s eastern gate. The property has game on the land and the hills behind it, which makes it a better proposition than the town accommodation a few kilometres away.
