Gondwana Namib Desert Lodge is built against a wall of fossilised dunes north of Sesriem, and that backdrop is the reason to stay here rather than anywhere else on this stretch of road. The ancient petrified dune face changes colour through the day and sits directly behind the property. It is one of the larger lodges in the Namib, which means it handles groups and self-drive traffic comfortably and is easier to book at short notice than the small camps closer to the gate. The trade-off is the drive to Sesriem in the morning, which is longer than from properties immediately outside the park. A sensible choice for travellers who value the setting and reliable availability over being closest to the dunes.
