Okamanja Lodge sits on the farmland north-west of Kamanjab, on the road that eventually becomes the Kaokoland track. It is the kind of place that makes sense on a westward Etosha exit: you clear Galton Gate in the afternoon, drive an hour, and stop before the road gets serious. Rooms are straightforward rather than luxurious and the setting does the work — open bush, granite outcrops, very little light at night. Travellers heading on to Opuwo or the Hoanib usually treat this stretch as the last comfortable night before conditions change.
