Ongava Lodge sits on the private Ongava reserve on Etosha’s southern boundary, immediately outside the Andersson gate. The reserve is one of the most significant private conservation areas adjoining the park, and staying inside it means you get game viewing on Ongava’s own land in addition to day trips into Etosha — including night drives and off-road traversing, neither of which is permitted inside the national park. It sits firmly at the upper end of the local market, and the case for it is that you are buying access to a second reserve rather than only a bed near the gate.
