How to get there and getting around

Outjo is reached via tarred roads from Otjiwarongo (C38) and connects west towards Khorixas and Damaraland (C39/C40). Self-drive is the standard way to arrive. The town centre is compact and walkable; a private vehicle is needed for onward travel to Etosha or Damaraland.

Outjo can be visited year-round as a stop on a self-drive itinerary; its role as a supply stop is useful in any season. Most visitors spend only a few hours here restocking supplies, though an overnight stay is a practical option before an early entry into Etosha, or heading onward west towards Khorixas and south towards Otjiwarongo and the Waterberg area.
