Frans Indongo Lodge stands on a private game farm north of Otjiwarongo, roughly midway between Windhoek and Etosha and within reach of the Waterberg Plateau. The architecture borrows from Owambo homestead design — palisade walls, thatch, open courtyards — which makes it noticeably different from the German-colonial style that dominates lodges in this part of the country. Game drives on the property turn up giraffe, eland and white rhino. It works well as a first or last night for travellers breaking the long central drive rather than pushing through to the park in one go.
