Ghaub occupies an old mission farm in the karst country between Otavi and Grootfontein, in the belt of dolomite hills that also holds the Hoba meteorite and the sinkhole lakes. The property is large enough to walk and drive, and the cave system beneath it is one of the more significant in Namibia. It works well as a first or last stop on the northern loop, and it is one of the few places in this region where the landscape itself, rather than proximity to a park gate, is the reason to stay.
