Namib Naukluft Lodge lies at the northern end of the Sossusvlei corridor, closer to Solitaire than to the Sesriem gate, on open plain with the Naukluft escarpment to the east. The position makes it a natural overnight for travellers arriving from the escarpment road or heading on towards Walvis Bay rather than for those planning a pre-dawn run to the dunes. The setting is genuinely quiet, with very little around it, which is much of the appeal. Expect a comfortable mid-range lodge rather than a design statement, and plan on roughly an hour of driving to reach the park gate in the morning.
